Recap of a brilliant weekend with Technogym Iberia

Recap of a brilliant weekend with Technogym Iberia in Ibiza. Intensive few days of team building, learning & getting to know everyone.

Picked up lots of ideas and gems of knowledge to push myself and my clients to the next level. Onward and upward 📈

Hola Zaragoza!

Day trip VLC - Zaragoza - VLC today, to deliver my first educational workshop for @technogym here in Spain.

And honestly, I’ve missed it, giving workshops. I’ve worked with Technogym in the UAE before, so it’s good to be back, and now in Spanish too 💪

I didn’t have a lot of time to explore the city, so it looks like I’ll need to go back one day. For a next time, insider tips are welcome!

Social media can make it look like getting in shap

Social media can make it look like getting in shape is extremely complicated. But realistically, if you want to get strong, fit and athletic, you can start with a few basics:

- Train consistently
- Eat mostly nutritious food & enough protein
- Get your calories right for your goal
- Move throughout the day
- Sleep well

Work on these and focus on consistency over perfection, that’s the foundation. Make sure your goals are challenging, but still achievable. You don’t need to (and shouldn’t) try to optimize every single variable all at the same time.

Big rocks first. Then the rest.

Quick reintroduction 👋 I’m Elger, a personal trainer based in Valencia.

I help people get stronger and fitter, and have been doing that in-person 10+ years in the Netherlands, Dubai & now in Spain. I also work online worldwide, so I can help you no matter where you’re based.

I hold a bachelors degree in sport & physical exercise, alongside a number of industry-leading certifications, and I’ve been lucky enough to learn from and work alongside some of the best people in the industry.

I’ve worked with everyone from complete beginners to more experienced.

📍 I currently offer 1-1 and small group training at Oxean Fitness, Meliá Valencia (Cortes Valencianas).

If you’re looking for some help with your training, feel free to send me a message.

I don’t know how this happened and where the time went, but our beautiful daughter turned 1 😍

She may have slept through the paella, but I’m sure she felt our love. Woke up just in time for the cake though 😅

Becoming a dad has been life changing, and the best thing that ever happened to me. To see her grow this year has been insane, and I can’t wait to be there and keep seeing her grow up.

Love multiplied this year for sure for me.

Your warm up sets are part of the exercise.

Use them not just to get you warm, but also to get ready.

Focus on form, technique and intent and use them as practice sets to get dialed in before your heavy working sets.

I’d recommend always starting with an empty bar and then build up, without burning yourself out with crazy volume before the real sets start (lower reps the closer you get to you working weight if you need multiple warm up sets on an exercise).

Do you warm up properly?

Full body push pull workout ⬆️

Here’s a quick example of how I like to program a full body strength block for myself and clients. This workout targets your:
• Posterior chain (RDL)
• Push (DB bench + landmine press)
• Pull (seated row)

Do as supersets if short on time (RDL+bench, row+ Landmine), or do straight sets if you want more rest and have the time for it.

3–4 sets each | 6-10 reps

Short on time? Warm up then do this.
Got extra time? Add some arm or glute isolation at the end.

As this workout is more posterior chain focused (glutes and hammies) for lower body, make sure to make another session in your wee more quad/squat focused.

I’d make these my non-negotiables if I was busy and out of shape ⬆️

Nothing fancy, but 100% effective.

See this list as a checklist; If you’re way off on any of these, make that your main focus, because there is a big chance that that’s what’s holding you back.
